Before frantically clicking the back button in a state of abject alarm, pause, take a refreshing breath, and then peruse the odd observation, or, take on life, as seen by yours truly.

My New Venture!

My New Venture!

Spring is in the air and it’s time to get productive again. With the aid of my lovely wife Kerry, I have decided to embark on a long awaited plan, to venture into “Internet Marketing“.

“Hands up” I have not the vaguest idea what I am about, suffice to say I will be blogging on my experiences.

I have uploaded a new wordpress site to my servers and that’s it so far.

“Internet Marketing” – To demonstrate my ignorance, I am going to make one or two observations that perhaps are not best suited to this idea, the first is in referral to – “what is internet marketing” – It seems, at first glance, that most marketer’s (is this a real word?) are selling to each other, by this I mean that most products available are designed to help you set up an internet marketing site!

I have ventured into one or two forums and have noted down the odd idea for further investigation. The best of which, as far as my inexperience can tell is ” Warrior Forum “.

I have also registered an account with ” Clickbank” Now clickbank is for affiliate referrals, I will go into this at some depth in the new site!

Now one of the most challenging ideas I have is to do the whole thing on a shoestring (due to the fact that I am skint)! I will though, invest a little capital when the need arises. It would be naive of me to think and say, that you can do this with little or no investment.

What I am doing though, is searching the net for free content on how to go about setting up a site, also what would be the best plug ins to use, how to set up an “Auto-responder” including the pitfalls of trying to run it off my own server! – yes I know this is perhaps not the best idea for a multiple of reasons,”Hotmail” has already given me trouble with my test account!

There is an amazing collection of videos out there that can help, just Google and You Tube the words “Internet Marketing” and “Wordpress” and you will see what I mean.

So, before this becomes an epic! I will leave it here for now and referrer you to my link to see how the “venture” is progressing!

How to Delay Global Warming

I use the word delay to emphasis the fact that, that’s about all we can do!

Global Warming……! Yes, I know, you have heard it all before. However, the fact remains that it is real and will probably result in the demise of a substantial amount of the World’s population.

We, in the Western World, must strive to set an example for other nations to follow. I will not go on about how we have allowed this to happen, or use scare mongering tactics to make you read this article.

I shall just rely on you using your common sense!

Oil, that’s why half the World is fighting the other half, We still have enough left to keep us going for another 10 years, after that the vast majority of us will not be able to afford it. Think about it, no more cheap motoring. I know there are alternatives to oil, but one way or another; they all leave us with a price to pay.

We have to change our mind set!

The first thing you must do is …SLOW DOWN…, yes!

Remember these are suggestions that will improve the planet for your children. Now, by slow down, I mean your speed whilst driving. It’s simple really, if you never drive faster than 50mph/80km on motorways and 30mph/50km on all other roads, the saving on oil would be quiet substantial.

On time however, it will increase no end. For every action needed to slow up the inevitable, there will be a reaction.

Unworkable, probably, but we must try, and we must make others see that this is a start. Bumper stickers or something in the car window showing you are trying, and maybe we could shame others into following!

Do you drive a substantial distance to work? Well it is time you found work close to home; if you could find a job within 5 miles of where you live, you could ride a bike!

Incredible, not only do you get to spend more time with your family, you get fit too!

Do you fly?

Well you can’t, holiday at home, take the train or bus. If you fly for business, then use the internet, the technology is available to meet as good as face to face.

I am already aware that the only people who would be prepared to make the sacrifices needed to delay Global Warming are “Joe Public”. You only have to look at how greedy business people have already dropped the rest of us in deep dodoo’s, but at the end of the day, there are more of us than them. If they do not toe the line then ostracize them. Don’t buy from their company’s, they need us more than we need them

Imagine how much fresher the air would taste without a large proportion of our current pollution levels, a reduction in Asthma in children, perhaps even a drop in ADHD, especially if we stop feeding our kids junk food!

The truth of the matter is that, one day in the very near future, we will have no choice but to do this, why wait until the air is so bad that you won’t notice the difference.

Why Aren’t You Following Me on Twitter –

With an estimated 12 million people using Twitter by the end of 2009, I am puzzled by the distinct lack of followers choosing to indulge my fantasy of expecting them to hang on to my every last tweet.

Yes, shocking isn’t it. So, taking the bull by the horns, (an overly graphic image of a brave forcados), I have decided to investigate this matter further.

Have I fulfilled the basic requisites –

To this end, I see a simple picture as one of the most important requirements. Leaving your picture blank is a blatant sign of “not giving a damn”. Yes it is me, warts and all!

I have completed a quirky bio - Who Me! …..just biding my time as I wait to be recycled! Why not join me for a follow! – Please note the casual, yet alluring reference to the fact that, should you choose to follow me, then I will, with the odd exception, follow you back… (The odd exception) – Usually it’s an account with no information and no posts. (I find those a little creepy!)

Now for the professional touch, I have provided a Twitter landing page, an introduction and welcome, plus a link to my website,- bobwcain.com - a bit of a private indulgence designed for personal use, but with an interesting take on life in general, – oh! – And some excellent music thrown in for good measure.

And last, but not least, I have taken the time to create a stunning background, exalting my finer points!

Am I Interesting –

Ha! – is this it? – Am I just a dozy, boring “old bugger!” with a nonsensical attitude on life? Well of course I am, and damn well proud of it!

Interesting is a concept seldom shared.

What I like could very well bore the pants off of you, and vice versa. My humour is by and large, of the English persuasion, that is to say, I am more into “Monty Python” and “The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy”, than is possibly healthy for me!

My attitude to politics is very tongue in cheek, and yet, serious. I recently described myself to an American political commentator as a “Verbal Terrorist”… Not a smart thing to do! … I could feel the horns growing as I read his reply.

I do tend to concern myself in the state of British politics, with a less than kindly attitude towards the “Idiots” currently running our country. Unfortunately, those waiting in the wings could well prove to be far worse.

And I do this with the knowledge that every word I say is out there and recorded, make of that what you will!

I also hold very strong opinions on the effects of “Global Warming”…. “It’s all over bar the shouting” kind of thing! …. I see you reaching for the little cross at the top of your browser! … “Bloody Nutter!” …. Ha! Ha!

Follow You, Follow Me

Now this is a great idea, but how do you attract the follower in the first place, well there are a couple of ways –

You can go down the path of paying, not one I would consider as a private individual, however, if you are a corporate company looking for the “Fashionable Presence”, then I guess that that is acceptable.

Self promotion – The alternative to parting with your hard earned cash! –

This is what I have done to attempt to increase my following. There are a number of websites out there encouraging you to sign up and get free followers, be very careful, some of the less scruples sites will use your details and password to promote themselves, and inflict upon you all sorts of accounts that have absolutely no intention whatsoever, of following you back.

This has happened to me, and it’s a pain in the “arse” getting rid of the “elite” few who think their shit doesn’t smell. I am sure some of you are stuck with them; they have thousands of followers, and two or three, who they deem to see fit to return the follow too! Precocious or what!

The first requirement is to find a site that will allow you to keep control of who is, and who is not, returning your follow. I use –

They are both much of a muchness; it’s useful to have an option should one or the other’s site be down.

Now who to trust with your log in details, as I have said above, this is a chancy thing, I have been using a site at –

Mr. Tweet is a useful site to find people, like your good self, who are looking to increase their following. My advice is to follow those with a balanced account, that is to say, their followers are equal in number to their following. – err! … Or something like that! … I hope that makes sense!

There are more sites out there should you wish to look, or why not head over to Mashable, a great site that points you in the direction of any number of interesting things.

Ok! – Now this is where the system completely breaks down, you find suitable candidates for a follow select and retweet them through Mr. Tweet, and they completely ignore you.

How to deal with this!

Firstly I see if they live close to me, then I head over to their house and throw a brick through their window! – That should do it….. Sadly, this is the point where I wake with a start, and fall of my chair.

Having regained my posture in my swinging, revolving, all singing and dancing comfort zone (chair), I then proceed to one of the aforementioned sites and delete the buggers, drastic actions being called for! .. Besides, they hurt my feeling and need punishing … bring back hanging, that’s what I say, Twittering is too good for them.

Which brings me all the way back to the question?

John Miles – Music

Everybody’s taste in music is different, that’s what makes us interesting, I have always had a love of music for as long as I can remember, but it was not until the emergence of ‘The Beatles’, that my ears pricked up, and I thought, ‘what’s this’.

I grew up in the ’60’s’, and what a great time that was for music. The Beatle’s, The Stone’s, The Kink’s and The Beach Boy’s featured quite highly on my playlist of that time

At boarding school I was introduced to the ‘Classic’s’, and still enjoy listening to some fine Composer’s like ‘Vivaldi‘ and ‘Bach‘. I have a preference for ‘Baroque‘. I also enjoy some ‘Opera’

During my Army day’s I got into the ‘Blue’s’ and ‘Motown‘, followed quite closely by ‘Reggae’ and ‘Ska’.

Then I heard ‘Pink Floyds’, ’Dark Side of the Moon‘. Wow! I had a ‘Sgt Pepper’s’ moment, and found myself heading in a new direction, ‘Mike Oldfield, Yes, Wishbone Ash, Uriah Heep and many more rock orientated bands began to appear in my collection.

The preference for rock music has continued throughout my life, and I now find myself listening to bands like ‘Keane’ and ‘The Feeling’ to name but a few.

The Beatles

The Beatles were – John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.

The Beatle’s have very probably, provided the soundtrack to my life. I remember the first time I heard them play one night when they guested on ‘Sunday Night at the London Palladium’, a popular TV show in the UK back in the 60’s.This was about 1963 ish, and I have been hooked ever since.

John, Paul, George and Ringo, grew up in the busy port of Liverpool, I am not about to go into their life stories, suffice to say, they cut there teeth playing the bars and sex clubs of Hamburg, Germany, in the early 60’s.

The Beatles – Twist and Shout

On returning to their home city of Liverpool, by now a tight combo, they landed a job playing in the ‘Cavern’, one of Liverpool’s more popular clubs. It was there that they met ‘Brian Epstein‘, a local entrepreneur and owner of a number of music stores in and around Liverpool. I guess the rest is history.

Penny Lane was filmed in and around the area in Liverpool of the same name.

Subsequent years have seen the arrival of all sorts of compilations, some full retail and some bootlegs. My favourite is the ‘Love‘ album released in November 2006. It is a remix of the music used in the Cirque du Soleil production of the Beatle’s musical.

The Beatle’s appeared in five major films, the majority of which received great reviews, with the exception of Magical Mystery Tour. This was a made for TV christmas special that at the time was, in my opinion, ‘greatly misunderstood’, however its reedeming feature is an excellent mix of music. You can watch all five movies from the links below, plus I have added the famous ‘Rooftop Concert‘ that bought chaos to the streets in and around Apple’s headquarters in London.

A Hard Days Night

A Hard Day’s Night is a 1964 British comedy film written by Alun Owen starring The Beatles—John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr—during the height of their popularity. It was directed by Richard Lester and originally released by United Artists. The film was made in the style of a mock documentary, describing a couple of days in the lives of the group.

It was successful both financially and critically; it was rated by Time magazine as one of the all-time great 100 films. British critic Leslie Halliwell described it as a “comic fantasia with music; an enormous commercial success with the director trying every cinematic gag in the book” and awarded it a full four stars. The film is credited with having influenced 1960s spy films, The Monkees’ television show and pop music videos.

Help!

Help! is a 1965 film starring The Beatles and featuring Leo McKern, Eleanor Bron, Victor Spinetti, John Bluthal, Roy Kinnear and Patrick Cargill. The soundtrack was released as an album, also called Help!.

An eastern cult (a parody of the Thuggee cult) is about to sacrifice a woman to the goddess Kaili. Just as she is about to be killed they notice that she is not wearing the sacrificial ring. It’s revealed that Ringo Starr, drummer of The Beatles, has it; sent to him by the victim and her sister, who is also the high priestess of the cult (both of whom are fans of The Beatles), and it’s on his finger. Determined toretrieve the ring and sacrifice the woman, the great Swami Clang (McKern), the high priestess Ahme (Bron)
and several cult members including Bhuta (Bluthal) leave for London.

Magical Mystery Tour

Magical Mystery Tour is an hour-long television film starring The Beatles (John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr) that initially aired on BBC1 on December 26, 1967.

The film was unscripted and shooting proceeded on the basis of a mostly handwritten collection of ideas, sketches, and situations, which Paul McCartney called the “Scrupt.” The situation is that of a group of people on a British charabanc bus (in a Bedford VAL Panorama) tour, focusing mostly on Mr. Richard Starkey (Ringo Starr) and his recently widowed Auntie Jessie (Jessie Robins).

Other group members on the bus include the tour director Jolly Jimmy Johnson (Derek Royle), the tour hostess Miss Wendy Winters
(Mandy Weet), conductor Buster Bloodvessel (Ivor Cutler), and the other Beatles.

Yellow Submarine

Yellow Submarine is a 1968 animated feature film based on the music of The Beatles. It is also the title for the soundtrack album to the feature film, released as part of The Beatles’ music catalogue.

The film was directed by Canadian-born animation producer George Dunning, and produced by United Artists and King Features Syndicate. The Beatles themselves appear only in the closing scene of the film, with the Beatles characters in the film voiced by other actors.

Pepperland is a cheerful music-loving paradise under the sea, protected by Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, which falls under a surprise attack by the music-hating Blue Meanies; the attackers seal the band inside a music-proof bubble, then turn the Pepperlander’s into statues and drain the countryside itself of colour.

Let It Be

Let It Be is a 1970 film about The Beatles rehearsing and recording songs for the album Let It Be in January 1969. Released 12 days after the album, it was the last original Beatles release.
The original premise of the film was to show the Beatles rehearsing and eventually performing a live concert. However, the band members had begun to drift apart for some time, and the project inadvertently documents some of the aspects leading to the band’s eventual break-up.

The Rooftop Concert

The Beatles played five songs during the rooftop performance: “Get Back” (three times), “Don’t Let Me Down” (twice), “I’ve Got a Feeling” (twice), “One After 909″, and “Dig a Pony”. The Beatles also played a brief version of the British national anthem, “God Save the Queen” and a brief rehearsal of “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)” while second engineer Alan Parsons was changing tapes. Those performances were omitted from the film.

After the final song, McCartney says, “Thanks, Mo!” acknowledging the enthusiastic applause and cheering from Maureen Starkey. Then Lennon closes with his well-known remark, “I’d like to say ‘thank you’ on behalf of the group and ourselves, and I hope we passed the audition!” This exchange was spliced on to the end of the Let It Be album.

You only have to catch a couple of minutes on British television to realise how upset the country is. BBC radio is alive with commentary on the situation and the press are having a field day.

The cause of this mayhem! (for want of a better word). Members of the Government have been caught with their hands in the till.The peoples representatives, the voters expect to trust unquestionable, have been helping themselves, to those same people’s hard earned cash.

The claimed reason for this, MP’s expenses, they say “The guidelines are inadequate and lack control”.

In simple terms, MP’s cannot tell the difference between right and wrong! And yet, they claim to be fit and competent to run the country.

Today in the news, I noticed that we have protesters outside of the Houses of Parliament, one dressed as Guy Fawkes, he was the chap protesting at the antics of the Government way back in the 1660’s. The story can be found at the link to Guy Fawkes!

The sad truth of the matter is quiet simply, what is the alternative. There are three major political parties in the UK;

The Labour party, born out of the needs of the working man back in the 1920’s (ish).
The Conservative Party,founded on the back of the (tory party) in 1678 and until recent times was considered to represent the needs of the middle class and right wing followers.
The Liberal Party, known as the Liberal Democrats since 1988. Liberal meaning ‘modern and forward thinking’, most appealing to middle Britain, the undecided and often used as a ‘rebuff’ in general elections, to the two popular parties.

There are other political parties out there, The Green’s, UKip and the BNP spring to mind. All with their own agendas, be it white supremacy to recycling. They tend to make progress in local elections and the European Parliament.

So what is the alternative, to the layman, (that’s me), the three major parties are all as good (or bad) as each other, and the remaining parties just don’t cut it.
“I know” … Lets start ‘a new one‘. A brand new political party based on the current state of Great Britain and the World today. Brilliant! First you need a name …. next you need a manifesto, laying down your aims and objectives ….. and finally you will need a backer, unless you are financially well off and able to fund the promotion of your party yourself.

Now you need to register your party at the Electoral Commission site and pay the fee…£150…that’s not bad, so here we go… The Electoral Commission …. their closed?

The Country is in “Uproar“, we need a new party to get us out of this mess…and their closed, the reason given is the forthcoming elections for the EU, the site will not re-open until further notice.
